This morning, around 1130am I was heading into Eugene from the SW on Crow
Rd. (a mile or so to the south of Petzold Rd.) and a flock of about 25-30
Western Meadowlarks were moving across the road from a pasture area along
the southern boundary of the road to a weedier field to the north. I
haven't been out that way at all this winter, so I don't know if these were
winter residents or possibly a flock of birds in passage. Anyway, it was
cool to see this.
I also noted several "white-bellied" swallows in different locations (one
possible V-Green), and two different locations where a pair of Western
Bluebirds were visible.
Also, out on Battle Creek Rd. (south of Crow off of Territorial Hwy.) I
noted a pair of Red-tailed Hawks in sort of a synchronous flight pattern.
Spring is definitely here even if the calendar does not yet say it is!!
Always observing, but not always reporting.
