Went to Powell Butte with my mother for the first time today, while the
weather wasn't as great as it could have been, the birding was fantastic.

Kestrels and especially Cooper's Hawks were very visible. Cooper's provide
frequent close looks, as well as male/female perching together allowing
close observation of sexual dimorphism. Frequent calling between the two of
them was also fun.

Lots of chickadees, bushtits, towhees, juncos (1 leusitic) , golden crowned
sparrows, bewick's wrens and a surprising hermit thrush.

Robins frequently flocked with many flickers, and two Pileated Woodpeckers
were constantly making themselves noticed. Was a great time, what a gem in
the middle of the city.
