I'm sure many will either respond or just intuitively know that right now the resident pairs of CG are preparing to nest and there is a lot of territorial defense fighting between the males.
The most interesting I ever watched was between a CG and an ospry over a nesting site on a navigational marker in the Columbia River just off the mouth of the Deschutes River. The osprey was standing ground on the rim of the nest and the goose was strafing him with full tilt ramming runs that would veer off at the last second. Sitting on the nest the osprey's talons were not in play. Later, once, we saw the goose on the nest and then the osrey appeared and attacked. In that scenario the osprey had all the cards (talons) and the goose had to give way. In the long run the osprey won, but watching him (I assume) strafe that osprey was quite fun.
