Yesterday, 3/19, I went with Lowell Franks on his Lake Co. Raptor route. It goes S. from Ft Rock through Paulina Marsh to Hgwy 31, S. to Summer Lake with a loop around Anna Res. , the S. on Hgwy 31 through Paisley to Valley Falls, then N on Hgwy 395 past Abert Lake almost to Wagontire, Ten W. to Christmas Valley. The N. and W legs were pretty dry only a few birds. The farm lands and marshes along Hgwy31 were much better.
Started the morning off with 32 Sage Grouse in a field including 13 dancing males. We saw thousands of snow geese, lots of Tundra Swans, around 40 Sandhill Cranes, 86 Pronghorns, 150 mule deer, and lots of assorted ducks.
The Bald Eagles were plentiful, especially south of Paisley.
