My husband has been seeing a new bird in the yard for several days. Each time he would see it I would miss it. Well this morning the bird sat in the tree for a few minutes. It is a male Western Tanager. We had them as yard birds in Klamath but there were lots of trees. Here we have two mature trees. I hope it stays around.

We still have our Yellow Warbler in the yard. The white Yellowheaded Blackbird is still in residence too. We had a funny thing happen to our flock of pigeons today. My husband was feeding when the flock got panicked and took off. He watched for a Falcon to come out of the sky- no results. The more he watched -he saw a Snipe was harassing the flock. It chased one down the creek and had most of the flock in total panic.
