OBOL:
This afternoon I took a round-about route home from work and stopped at a
marsh on Coffeelake Creek off Boones Ferry Rd. in NW Wilsonville, just into
the edge of Clackamas county. I drove in on the road along the south side
of the marsh. The powerline, forest firs, and riparian willows were
dripping with flycatchers: they all had red heads, yellow bodies, and black
wings. There must have been over 20 of them, predominantly male WESTERN
TANAGERS.
Also present were numbers of 2 GREEN HERONS, a few Least Sandpipers, and a
mix of ducks.
Good birding,

Yesterday I was thinking about how few Western Tanagers I have seen and
heard
so far this year, when at least 16 of them, maybe 20 flew across Lynx Hollow
over my head within about a one minute period and briefly landed in a big
oak
tree on the north side of the road before flying on. Most or all appeared to
be
males.
