At 11:30 AM today (Wednesday, May 14th) there was a Black Turnstone on
the small island in the duck pond at the east end of the main pond at
Fernhill Wetlands at Forest Grove in Washington County. It was in the
general vicinity of three Killdeer, but was feeding slowly and seemed
tired, if one might be permitted a bit of an assumption. My wife and
I both saw it well with binoculars, as did another couple (whose names
I unfortunately did not obtain) who had a large Nikon scope. I don't
know how common or not Black Turnstones are inland like this, but I've
never seen another.
