In the mist and cold (we got accustomed to the summer weather of a few days ago) we traveled to the old South Willamette Dump site near 52nd and Willamette streets. The birds were mostly uncooperative; persistence was necessary. There were neither flycatchers nor any woodpeckers. Here is our list for the morning.

Turkey Vulture - a few brave or hungry ones

Red-tailed Hawk

Mourning Dove - heard in the distance

Anna's Hummingbird

Cassin's Vireo - heard only

Warbling Vireo - seen briefly

Steller's Jay

Black-capped Chickadee

Red-breasted Nuthatch

Nashville Warbler - a hard to see bugger

Black-throated Gray Warbler - heard only

MacGillivray's Warbler - seen well after 20 minutes of coaxing
