[obol] Birdathon Field Trip Results May 11

Hello Again, Fellow Birders,

 

This year was our first foray into offering field trips as part of the
Ladd Marsh Birdathon. In an attempt to grow slowly and carefully, we
offered just two field trips: 1) "Dawn Chorus" offered participants a
chance to get out on Ladd Marsh at daylight to hear rails, bitterns,
marsh wrens and all the wetland inhabitants start their day. 2) "Grande
Ronde Valley" offered a chance to explore areas off Ladd Marsh with
local guide, Trent Bray.  Three individuals were on both trips and
compiled a combined species list for both.  This covered a time frame
from 4:30 am to 6:00 pm and several locations around the Grande Ronde
Valley.  Although the combined count of 118 species was very close to
the Union County Big Day Record, we were not attempting a Big Day (next
year, we might).  The List is below:

Although some warblers were seen at more than one location all the
warblers mentioned were observed at one location!
